Lancaut — a singular-object house. The Lumenaut, the house's premier expression.
THE OBJECT SUPREME
Lumenaut, 2015
Rome, 2016. Beside the Porta San Paolo stands the Pyramid of Cestius, built in 12 BC as the tomb of Gaius Cestius, a priest of the college that prepared the sacred feasts of Rome. He watched the sun set behind it with a Partagás Lusitania in hand. The form stayed with him, and in the months that followed it moved through his sketchbook from monument to vessel, years before the house had a name. The Lumenaut is that pyramid shown here in Stainless Steel with Matte Twilight ceramic coating, the cigar is cradled above the Vermeil basin finished in High Sun. Its name joins the Latin lumen, light, with the Greek nautēs, sailor. It is the first object of Lancaut. Due to rigorous fabrication and complexity, only 72 Lumenauts are produced in any given year.
